My idea is to create a site dedicated to providing free educational videos on how to utilize social media to make your business grow.
It will consist of daily videos and blog posts about how to increase your revenue, when to post on different social media platforms, what content works best for which site, how to read data, which apps can help you stay connected and much more.
Social media is a passion of mine and as a young entrepreneur myself with little cash I understand the limitations you can have and I wanted to build a site where as a community we could come together and learn from one another.
Why do we even need SocialMedia&Me?
More than ever people are setting up their own businesses, young people to be exact
But despite this leap only a small percentage of these business stay open. In the West Midlands alone there were around 26,000 business births but only 7000 of these managed to stay trading.
So why are so many businesses closing down within their first year? There are many reasons such as not choosing a business which is profitable, believing you can do everything yourself and importantly not having the right skills or mindset. In fact 40% of students who decided to not carry on with their own businesses admitted it was because of the lack of experience and 10% admitted it was because they didn’t have enough information or help. (ELEANOR LAWRIE, 2015)
SocialMedia&Me gives you these valuable skills in order to utilize social media for your business. Educating you on how to increase your revenue stream, profits and customer engagement to help you learn from your customers and build a more stable structure.
Our value proposition?
You will learn the necessary skills to build and manage your own business in your own time. You can build your social capital without having to read book after book or attend long classes which cut into your time. You learn the skills in your own time. Then put them to practice so you have a stronger audience base, more revenue and higher profits. We just want to help you help yourself.
Why social media?
There are already over 50 million business pages on Facebook alone, this is a massive jump from the 15 million it had only 3 years prior. . And Facebook now sees 100 million hours of daily video watch time. So why not social media?
Having a social media page for your business allows you to do much and really interact with your audience on a personal level. You can build relationships and learn from your customers feedback. It allows the chance for people to share your product at ease with friends and family and reach a wider demographic which was once implausible.
Best of all? It is incredible affordable all you need it time, the correct mind-set and the drive to learn.
Who are my target audience
- 16-24 year olds
- Men > Women
My product is aimed but not limited to 16- 24 year olds in the UK simply because it is within the age bracket which has seen the highest percentage of growth within this trend and also has seen the highest percentage of unemployment in the UK.
Yet this age bracket does not limit my services to just the un employed but also students. 375,00 university students set up their own businesses in 2015 yet only 1 in 10 of them will actually venture into making it in the real world.
Why is this? Because the majority do not have the necessary skills or training for such a grand adventure!

There are many videos on YouTube already on this subject field all with different levels of knowledge and vast experience. I found though finding a site such as mine own dedicated to providing daily content hard to come by if at all. There are many sites which provide a sample of information and tips to help you but nothing which supports you like SocialMediaMe will.
I found a number of other sites which occasionally posted about utilising social media and its importance but none seemed focused and dedicated to the cause.
Another resort is hiring your own social media consultant but that can be very expensive. In fact in can cost between $1,000 per month to $20,000 per month (The Content Factory, 2016). It is fantastic what they can offer in terms of personal tuition but I feel we can all agree it is more rewarding when you do it yourself and it saves you money which you can outsource elsewhere.
There are many obstacles in my way before I launch the finished site but with this time line it is easier to picture and unfold:
I am looking to launch my site mid 2018, this gives myself and my team just 1-2 years to build up our public awareness through our marketing plans and social media strategies, build the site itself and produce enough content to launch our site with.
There are a number of ways you can get involved whether it is joining our teams in producing content for the site or donating towards the project.
